Dream Big, Start Early: How Students Like You Are Studying Abroad Sooner — Starting in Cyprus

For many students, the idea of studying abroad begins as a flicker—a dream sparked by a documentary, a conversation, or a glimpse of a university campus online. But when that spark is nurtured early, it becomes a flame. And when students are given the tools, exposure, and encouragement to explore global education before high school, they don’t just prepare—they transform.

Across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East, families are discovering that the journey toward international education doesn’t have to start with a plane ticket. It can begin with a workshop, a conversation, or a single moment of clarity—often sparked by the right guidance.

Why Earlier Is Smarter

Starting early gives students time to:

  • Build academic English and subject fluency
  • Explore career-aligned subjects before choosing a degree
  • Understand scholarships, applications, and interview prep
  • Develop confidence and independence through mentorship and collaboration

Initiatives like Education Speaks are helping students dive into cross-border learning early, while platforms like EducationBookings.com offer personalised guidance that makes planning feel exciting and achievable.

  • PhD

On average, the standard term of study for getting a qualification (degree) “bachelor” on Cyprus – 3-4 years. Master’s degree – 1, 5-3 years, PhD – from 3 to 6 years.

Many Cyprus universities and colleges must provide subsidies for their students that allow compensating completely or partly their expenses on education.

For Cypriots – Cyprus provides a state grant issued to a student based on his performance or social status – the state will partly pay for education!

Besides getting higher education, the undeniable advantages of studying in Cyprus include allowing foreign citizens to work legally while studying (officially – not more than 20 hours a week).

Many Cyprus universities practice an Erasmus Students program (EU exchange program that allows on the second or third year of study, to go and learn or internship in other country-member of EU or countries that participate in this program).

The annual cost of education in Cyprus universities is € 4 000 – € 10 000 depending on the university and academic degree

Some of the most prestigious Cyprus universities:

The University of Nicosia (το Πανεπιστήμιο Λευκωσίας) – (click here)

The University of Nicosia – prestigious Cyprus University and is considered one of the best in the country. Generally, teaching is going in English. This university – not from the cheap ones.

Education in the bachelor program costs around € 9 000 for the year. Despite that, this university is still available for international students, including Kenyan citizens, who are provided a 30% discount. There is a very strong economic faculty, and the university is multinational.

Frederic University (Το Πανεπιστήμιο Frederick) – (click here)

It has a campus and dormitory, a good library, and comfortable payment by instalments for students.

What is required to apply to Cyprus universities?

For EU citizens in Cyprus,– you need to provide your documents, school certificate and pass the entrance exam (again, in depending on the university (in some universities, there are no entrance exams), pay students insurance – required for EU citizens and citizens from other countries), fill out a form and apply for admission.

For students who are not EU citizens (including for citizens of Russia, Ukraine, and Belarus) they have to provide their school certificate, which officially translated into English and certified and pass a language test (IELTS, TOEFL). “Passing score” IELTS on bachelor’s program – approximately 5.5, – can vary depending on the same university. A foreign student must have a “student visa” (in Cyprus, it is called permission to living and education in the country) or another form of Residence permit in Cyprus (Pink Slip has a few forms), also student insurance.

These documents on Cyprus is giving a Department of Civil Registration and Migration. May be required documents confirming financial viability and an address, official letter of admission in Cyprus university, and medical insurance.

In Cyprus, you will get a high quality higher education, excellent terms for education and accommodation, tasty and healthy food, and the most important thing – opening career perspectives.
